Amur is a very interesting and unique project among the other rating jobs in Appen. You’re given an opportunity to shop products online and keep those products, but you will have to pay for the order initially from your pockets, and later Appen will reimburse you all the expenses you had including taxes, shipping charges, or any customs duty on your order.

What is the Amur project from Appen?

In Project Amur, you will be completing and reviewing shopping completed through Facebook. You have the unique opportunity to purchase and keep up to $500.00 USD worth of products for free after reimbursement. Appen runs the Amur project in 42 markets and although Appen set the max spend limit at $500.00 USD per person, the average spend per person is more equivalent to a range of $100.00 USD – $350.00 USD.

Note: There is no minimum limit for your purchases, you are able to spend as little as you are comfortable with as long as you have completed your purchases within guidelines.

The ultimate aim of this project is to evaluate the shopping experience from a major social media and both Appen and the social media company in this project are billion-dollar companies. E-commerce and shopping have evolved a lot in the past decade and we are at a social commerce phase now.

The relevance of the Amur project?

It is super important, very very important for Facebook to evaluate the trustworthiness, reliability, and shopping experiences of the major eCommerce platforms on Facebook. Amur project is very relevant since it allows raters to shop products and update the experience such as delivery, packaging, product quality, customer support, timeliness, etc. The crowdsourced data of shopping experiences will help Facebook to judge shopping experiences through Facebook and Instagram.

How to join the Amur project in Appen?

Step 1– The first step is to have an account with Appen, and if you’re new to Appen, click here to create a new account on Appen.

Step 2– Once you complete creating your Appen account, go to the all projects page and click qualify for Amur and other rating projects that you’re interested in.

Step 3- Once you receive the invitation mail from Appen for the Amur project, the next step is to complete the qualification quiz and availability survey for the month. Both are super easy to complete and the qualification quiz will help you understand everything about the Amur project and we cannot share the guidelines for the quiz since it is confidential.

Step 4– Once you’ve completed the availability survey and the qualification quiz for Amur, nothing to worry about, the project manager will get in touch with you with the welcome mail when the project begins.

How to complete the Amur project?

• Step 1 – Purchase your items.

  • Make sure to capture the Job ID as you will be required to enter Job ID when you submit your receipt.  We strongly suggest you include it in the naming convention of your screenshots.
• Step 3 – Complete the Purchase Review Survey.

Overview of Amur project by Appen

• In the Amur project, you will be rating your experience in purchasing items through a major social media giant.
• You will be completing one initial survey as you are making each purchase as well as a second follow-up survey/review once you have received your purchases so you can provide feedback about the overall purchasing experience.

• You will be paid for your time spent on working on the actual purchase and answering our surveys. In addition, you will also be reimbursed for the total cost of the item purchased for this project: 

  • Piece rate: time spent working on the project. In order to receive the piece rate, raters need to:
    • Complete 2 surveys that tight to each of the purchases assigned to the rater (accessible via Rating Tool).
      • Each completed purchase in the client tool is equal to 2 piece rates.
      • Purchases canceled by the vendor are still paid for the same amount of piece rate.
      • Purchases that have shipping updates (pending or undelivered) are also paid for the same amount of piece rate.
      • Incomplete purchase, or purchase made without being “Assigned” in the Rating Tool, or purchases that are skipped (regardless of reasons) are not compensated.
  • Purchase Reimbursement: You are eligible to receive up to $500 in free products (after 100% reimbursement which includes taxes/shipping/customs).
    • For any costs that are made in non-USD currency, you will be reimbursed in USD. The amount will be calculated using the project FIXED exchange rate based on the cost and currency that showed on your receipt. Please see the exchange rate under-invoicing reminder for more details.
    • All purchased that are made in USD will be reimbursed with the exact amount in USD regardless of the rater’s market.
    • Qualified items for reimbursement:
      • Only purchased items (regardless of shipping status) will be reimbursed.
      • Canceled items (not by vendors) or refunded items are not qualified to be reimbursed.
      • Items that are purchased after purchase open windows (see above for deadline of each round) are not qualified to be reimbursed.
      • Late submission for reimbursement requests (see above for deadline of each round) will not be processed.
    • We will also add $3 to your reimbursement to pay back the Payoneer costs.
